The Lounge at Hertford House

A unique and versatile venue located in the heart of the historic market town of Hertford, The Lounge is located on the lower ground floor of Hertford House, an impressive listed Georgian Townhouse Hotel that combines original features with a contemporary twist. 


A boutique hotel, restaurant and bar form the upper floors of the venue providing rooms and catering as well as venue hire if required.

Originally The Mercury newspaper headquarters and printers, The Lounge is packed full of character; recently renovated by top London designers, The Mint List (recommended by The Sunday Times and Elle Deco) and Architectural firm, Mango (Milk & Honey and The Clubhouse in Chamonix).

The Lounge is the ideal place for a variety of exclusive events catering for parties from 30–160 guests including intimate cocktail receptions in our snug to corporate presentations or dancing the night away to live bands and DJ’s.

Our knowledgeable in-house production team can help curate the perfect event for you; from small bespoke drinks receptions to corporate away days or the ultimate birthday party and everything in between!

Our team work closely with each client assisting managing budget and logistics from start to finish. With an extensive catalogue of suppliers and hundreds of events of all shapes and sizes under our belts you’re in safe hands.

Private Hire Rates

Monday – Sunday
9 am – 4 pm
£40 / hour 

Monday – Wednesday
4pm – 11pm
£50 / hour 

7pm – 1 am

Friday – Saturday
7 pm – 2 am

D.J Hire Friday – Saturday
8 pm – 2 am

The rates are inclusive of a professional bar team.


Additional Information

Before confirming your booking, we require you come and view The Lounge and discuss all of your requirements to ensure we meet your expectations on the day.

To secure a booking we will require signed Event and Terms and Conditions sheets and a 50% non-refundable deposit (full payment if the booking is within 28 days).

An additional £150 fee is charged for an S.I.A doorman for all 18th and 21st Birthdays parties.

Seven days’ notice is required for any amends to your booking.
